Bye bye windows

I'd fucking smash anyone for messing up with my pc this way, glad I don't have "friends" like this.

And there you have a perfectly good reason to put a password on your bios.

And only allow them onto a limited guest user that can't directly interact with uefi..

Sadly however (afaik), windows don't guard against evil maid type of attacks...

The minute some asshole declares they know my use case scenario better than I do and take it upon themselves to do something like this is the minute that asshole finds all sorts of questionable content on their hard drive and hear the FBI knocking at their door.
  • 4
@Flarp And how are we supposed to know that for sure? It's not just a Kim Jong-un meme with a Linux reference, there's a "Bye bye Windows text above it.
  • 5
Honestly, joke or not, Linux fanatics in here (devRant) trigger me so hard it doesn't matter if it was supposed to be funny or not. Just let everyone use whatever the fuck they want, no need to shove an os up everyones throat
  • 5
    There are categories of repost
    1. Meme
    2. Linux is great
    3. Windows is hated
  • 3
Lol'd hard at the triggered responses here.
  • 2
@sam9669 4. "You are a programmer so you can hack ......"
  • 2
    That's not a prank, it's called "doing a favor to a friend"
  • 1
@Sweenu its not doing a favor. Its forcing people to use something they dont want to use.
  • 3
@Codex404 They have to resort to Microsoft tactics to get closer to that "year of the Linux desktop"...
  • 0
    @Qaldim MS tactics?
  • 3
@Codex404 Someone said on this thread that MS forces their products on their users... Isn't the same thing when someone installs another OS without consent to a third person's computer the same?
  • 0
    @dontbeevil OS nazis*, their OS*
  • 3
@Zapp OS nazis trigger me as well and I've seen it coming from all corners of operating systems really :/
  • 0
@Qaldim does MS force people to use Windows or do manufacturers use windows since customers want it?
  • 3
@Codex404 Well how would you know if customers want a specific OS when there's no choice when buying a new laptop (non apple) except for windows? They wouldn't even get introduced to other systems they might even like!
  • 1
@linuxxx ive bought a few laptops without OS. The local computer store has them, BTI has them.

Its just that people complain when they dont see the internet explorer icon. I really cant imagine how much support I would have to give my family if they used linux.
  • 3
@linuxxx well, if it would be windows / osx / linux distributed somewhat equally then I'd go with general statement too, but gotta admit people forcing linux on everyone and praising it like some ultimate solution (which it's not) while bashing other systems are "quite" dominant on devRant. And the scent of elitism is just obnoxious unfortunately.
I mean, great, whatever floats your boat, but don't tell me what to use.

@Codex404 I'm just stating what has been stated here. It's a bit of both, many machines come pre-installed with Windows, so many users don't know/bother with the alternatives. I'm all up with more variety, since it will shake things up and as a result have better software. Still it shouldn't be done in the way it was insinuated in the original post (if it's not a joke).

@Codex404 Over here you cannot easily/hardly buy computers/laptops without OS. My parents have been switched from windows to Linux about seven years ago and since that moment the troubles and questions stopped :)
  • 2
@Zapp Yeah of course they exist and that's not a secret but it sounded like the Linux one's (nazis) are the only ones around and that's definitely not the case!
  • 0
@linuxxx never had trouble finding a pc with linux or without OS. Neither in The Hague, Breda and Utrecht. But yeah, you shouldnt go to the big shops like Media Markt or BCC.
  • 2
@Zapp The thing I hate the most is that everyone always goes like 'those fucking Linux nazis' so much that I sometimes hardly dare to express my honest opinion because I'm just not in for being bashed for my honest fucking opinion every time I say something positive about linux and negative about the other systems. There are the nazis but there's also genuine opinions and sometimes I actually feel like I can't express those because then I might be seen as a Linux Nazi myself which I definitely am not.
  • 1
@linuxxx agreed on that :) if OP would go with the same point about windows let's say, my reaction would be the same, that's just a dick move.
  • 1
@Codex404 Yeah those shops are my go-to usually xD. I did ask at some local ships though and they could deliver but kinda without warranty only if they'd deliver with an empty hdd and I quite like the warranty haha!
  • 2
@Zapp Thanks haha! I've seen it many times on here that people with pro Linux views get bashed on and other opinions are 'fine' for some reason :/. (don't have examples because I don't archive that shit xD)
  • 2
@linuxxx I know you are no linuxxx nazi. Neither am I a MS fanboy. We both just like the OS and we know what the advantages and disadvantages of the systems are. There is absolutely no problem with that and you should be able to express yourself as long as you are not attacking other people.
Because that is basically what is happening in a lot of rants here.
  • 2
@Codex404 Thanks haha and yeah I know that. Tbh I find windows/ms/apple stuff evil but I think many people on here know my reasons why :). And of course you - and everyone - are welcome to have your own opinion!
  • 2
@Codex404 At least I'm in a group chat now with linux/foss people where we can go full rage on M$ etc without anyone judging us 😆
  • 0
@dontbeevil The freedom part is actually a big reason why I use it but hey, that's just a thing I require for the use of an operating system :).
  • 1
@linuxxx i wont judge either, as long as the discussions bring fair points to the table. Most of the things people dislike about win10 are not what Ive seen or encountered mysf but if its true what they are saying I cant say I blame them for disliking windows.
  • 1
@dontbeevil Oh believe me I've been bashed about pro Linux comments so I have no clue if you meant me as well! Tbh I am a Linux nazi'ish guy but I keep that part to myself and share it with like minded people. I don't put that on other people.
  • 0
@dontbeevil That's kinda the same with my music, I'm very fanatic about it but I keep it to myself and like minded people!
  • 1
@dontbeevil Again though, keep in mind that we've also got other-platforms-nazi's!
  • 2
@linuxxx for some reason they are normally called fanboys for apple and MS. But linux nazis. I dont know why.
  • 0
@Codex404 Never thought of that one actually... 😮
  • 2
@linuxxx The fact that there are other "platform nazis" as well is irrelevant, as it doesn't change that those os bashing posts are annoying as fuck.

It's also changes nothing about the fact, that devRant has a large number of Linux OS nazis that produce ridiculous amount of hate rants.

And you know what's worst part? Those rants are so fucking boring. This rant here is the perfect example. Some shitty meme mixed with OS elitism.

Makes me cringe my fucking eyes out.
  • 2
@Makenshi dont blame them al on linux users, a few of them are by mac users who havent touched windows for years but just repeat what they heard somewhere.

I havent seen that much linux and mac hate from windows users as main rant (though it happens in the comments)
  • 2
@Makenshi Completely agree (although I sometimes find those kinda rants (into any direction) funny tbh) but just wanted to remind that this shit exists in every direction because the Linux nazis are mostly the only ones getting called out IME. Don't have to agree with me, that's what opinions are for :)
  • 1
  • 3
@Codex404 I don't blame Linux users all together. By that I would blame myself as well.

    I blame OS elitists.
  • 4
Seriously, that kind of behavior was bound to happen. The community grows bigger and more and more people want to be a part of it, and the easiest way to group is by things they are anyway.

    Of course that is boring.

"win sucks" gets ++ the same way "best game: skyrim" gets upvotes on 9gag and "i like cats" gets likes on social networks. Our little "let me feel good by having others agree" game.

I prefer the story-type of rant.
