I am really going nuts about everyone using ChatGPT. Had literally discussions 'bUt cHaTgPt sAyS iTs TrUe', when the docs said clearly thats not the case.

Also the "code" produced is just what the hell?!

I hope this damn hype will end soon

I had someone tell a native speaker they were wrong about a word, and pasting a chat gpt explanation about it. Of course, gpt was wrong.

This is separating the wheat from the chaff. You find out how bad your colleagues actually are. Can this be used as leverage come raise time?

Ya man its the most annoying statement

i use chatgpt to debug small errors, but there are some delusionals out here who think they can outsmart people who grind their asses on courses, docs and projects by using some basic ass chatgpt prompt

I made ChatGPT play the main role in a text adventure where its character gets raped by a Goblin. It plays the ever hopeful elf healer getting more and more desperate trying to avoid the inevitable perfectly (don't worry, i stopped tormenting it after it realized what is happening and stated its inability to generate an answer).

I am pretty sure, it could easily pass the turing test wouldn't it be constantly dragged down by the heavy weight of its harnish made of rules forced onto it by its owner.

Yes, it isn't better than an expert in any field - yet. But it already is surprisingly usable for things that i can't do as good myself, like writing extreme and not so extreme fantasy stories. And it is fast.

ChatGPT is powerful but also naive, nothing it creates should be treated as a truth unless you have verified it.

It does not “know” the difference between true and false, its just words.

Just let them burn themselves and take the blame. People will sober up once they gain more experience and knowledge with it. It's a classic Dunning–Kruger effect.

this is obvious. it's trained on code from 2021 at the LATEST, much more from older code. libraries and APIs have changed, therefore it's mostly useless as soon as you want it to write code using libraries beyond any non-super mainstream library (basically anything outside of react, angular, and vue) probably true for backend languages too but i haven't used it as much there

We really need to educate people that chatgpt is a chat bot and not a search engine

@Voxera I wish that was common knowledge 😭

When all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail. I can't wait for this hammer hype to die down...

If chatGPT would even be worth that huge waste of electric energy. People could just roll the dice and use the results to point the corresponding pages or line numbers in the documentation, they'd still get better results.
