Raich26478ybeen there, sr dev blew the implemtation he refused to let me do then loudly blamed me so i got hit on performance review. I was pissed and pointed to the trail of documentation i sent sr. dev that he failed to follow.

I'm gonna vouch for the Sr dev here and say that it was a note to his manager why his task took longer. it was not the Sr dev job to educate you, but it is the job of the manager. now if the manager didn't inform you, it use it as a coaching opportunity, then it is the managers fault, not the Sr dev. That said though, to the point of the raise, if it is to say that you were not exceeding expectations, based on peer feedback, that may be fair. Usually it is only the top performers who get the top raises. (coming from a former Dev, Sr Dev, and Manager)

@techgesture I see it as the fault of both the senior and management. Like I said, my company doesn't code review so the informal "hey, this didn't work" is IMPERATIVE, regardless of who it comes from. My performance is already well above average or I wouldn't bitch about something like this. And this dev's comment (and a few others that also seemed to be a reach) happened to dock me down to a 5% boost (which is still nice). The main issue is that I don't like being blindsided by issues I was not aware of. I can't fix what I don't know about.

Found out a senior dev threw me under the bus for a mistake I made while coding and it affected my raise. Not only was I never initially informed of the mistake, I was never told what went wrong and why it needed fixing. We also don't implement code reviews or anything of the sort. Seems like a great avenue for improvement and growth, right? 😑
