I guess my brain needs more processing power, or better recovery times?

    Not RAM !
    Ram handles basic maths but hard drive handles memory of past!

    It starts to bug me how brain as hardware can handle data and if this system is so similar to digital devices, that you can compare their capacity?

    Your brain is kind of like RAM in the sense that it has to be periodically refreshed to keep information stored. For example, the more you think about math, the more likely you are to remember it. Over time, if you stop thinking of math, you tend to forget everything (just like RAM, when it doesn't get refreshed)

    storage, not RAM (and probably an ok-ish cpu)

    @ParkCity if the brain was considered storage, that means all of the data in your brain would persist after loss-of-power (death), which isn't true. The brain is more like ram since it is volatile and does not maintain its state after power loss (aka death)

    @VirtualProtect i think it's just a more organic method of storage, so death dosen't make it "Reset" per se, it actually destroys the data - like a hard drive in salt water, which would lose data on "death". It's just a side effect of the more compact, more organic methods of a combined dynamically sized RAM partition and data storage partitions i guess

    @ParkCity good call! I guess it can technically be both RAM and storage since the brain has long and short term memory/storage procedures. (Short term is analogous to RAM, and long term is Storage)!

    Just because we can't retrieve the data stored in the synapses of a brain right now doesn't mean it isn't possible, does it?
    So it could be that with the right data retrieval method you can still access data of dead brains.

    (Note: I know very little about human anatomy and this theory is purely based on the speculation, that strengthened neuro links between synapses store data and don't lose their strength immediately after death)

    thats partially right, the brain it may have lots of capacity but its not digital, and it can forget some things as a protection(like traumatic scenes). =)

    It fragments at an alarming rate, you have to keep accessing the information to keep the path to it fast.

    That and the lack of confidence when you have not done something in a long time is what make you think you don't remember but you do.

    "average pc hard drives" is as good as "2 football fields long" -.- like really...what is a an average HDD size ?

    @SHA-256 do the calculation yourself and you'll see what they are claiming as the average hard drive size.

    256 billion gigabytes / 1.2 billion hard drives = 213.3333 GB/HDD

    So they are claiming the average is ~213 GB
