Aria2 is even better. It can generate multiple connections, resume, handle torrents, and can be run as a deamon. I can start downloads on my computer from my Android.
The command line interface is easy to use and script and there are APIs for multiple languages, as well as a few GUIs to choose from.
Think of it as the MPD of downloaders. -
