Ready11847y@MisterArie I'm coming from Js/Node...wtf no dot notation? Wtf are the $? Why?? Just why??? -> and =>??? Really??? Just garbage.
-
It is not apache server requiring. Laravel recommends nginx even homestead ships with nginx not apache. If you do not work for some fancy dev house and have clients that just want a site and not have to suffer too much on hosting costs while still knowing they own the actual domain and site without a ass bag wannabe dev overcharging them just to host, php is the solution that can give them a site to be proud of with a future on shitty shared hosting. So shared hosting is apache requiring.

Ready11847y@penderis right sorry. I meant vanilla php. On my vm I'm running apache. Not using homestead.
-
@Ready for lamp stack I used scotchbox on vagrant. It has apache etc. Specific for shared hosting reasons. Changed to docker now so will see thus far laradock runs like a beauty but is single project based via apache. But goodluck wrapping your head around php nuances coming from js.

Ready11847y@Linux are you running laravel? I'm assuming u are SINCE IT'S THE ONLY REASON PHP STILL EXISTS
-
@Linux true but it is not a perfect world and these get dictated to which server you get handed. Sweet like lemon.

I dont like PHP, but I have to set it up anyway
@penderis
I do like Apache alot more than nginx. -
So much hate towards laravel. :P can't wait till he forces you to work on wordpress
-
@Ready arent that all small things? Yeah you have to adapt a bit. But isn't that the same with switching between most languages.

Thats why Apache is better. But also, by proxiyng to fpm you gain performance too

The only reason the barbaric, Apache server requiring, disgusting non-intuitive syntax having, pain in the dick to set up language known as "php" is even still around AT ALL is because of laravel...just let it die already...
P.s. - work is making me learn laravel/php
