To be fair, my current Linux device froze after running the screensaver and the only fix was to manually press the power button to turn it off...

That can happen, you should take a look around, I got some trouble like that, and it was hardware related, some misconfiguration...

talvdav237y@RiderExMachina did you try the
Rising skinny elephands is utterly boring (aka SysRq)
Approach first? That works like 99.9% of the time, every time for me -
wax9111417yWindows 8+: right click program don't end process but instead Goto Details and kill the process or process tree 🤖

wax9111417y@maltedMilk lol once I changed my password and couldn't get past my login screen then after going into the CLI, I was able to login but noticed no home directory was present because the the folder was still encrypted with the old password 😹

Windows has terrible command line tools, it uses backward slash, the commands are different and in general Command Prompt is a joke. Why would you think that I didn't know it existed, come on.... :) @Many
What is fucking wrong with Windows? When shit doesn't respond it's impossible to kill it and it freezes other processes. NEVER happens in Linux, all I do is kill the PID. When you can't open task manager or "end the process" you are shit out of luck. You'd think they'd fix this in the decades they've had to built a computing platform. I'd use linux exclusively but some work and tools at my company necessitates windows.
