    Obviously, it is a desperate move for monetization.

    But maybe this can finally make it obvious to normal people, that there just is no algorithm for truth. Maybe now that their beloved checkmarks lose their perceived meaning, they finally start ignoring the person in favor of looking at the actual message. But i somehow doubt it...

    Hopefully, Mr. Tweet axes the message length limit next.

    How else does Twitter get revenue? Ads alone don’t keep most services afloat. Nobody builds things for free if they want them to last.
