Agreed.
"You have 'Dark Souls 2 Scholar of the First Sin Edition'? How about I'll recommend you to buy Dark Souls 2 every fucking time? And you may also be interested in that car racing sim for some reason." -
620hun83707yEver fucking time. I buy something, and from then on I keep seeing ads about whatever I bought.
-
Couldn't have ranted it better myself. Totally bloody annoying, and the ultimate definition of pointlessness.
-
Exactly bro, when I just bought the same specs why would I buy them again? And worse, you check then out at one place and they start showing up all over, not just random websites but Facebook, Yahoo as well.

@Paramite Product recommendations are not necessarily ads. For example the suggestions on Amazon or Steam when you're logged in.

SSDD47977y@Paramite that’s not the point. Wether you see the add or not is irrelevant. The point is the “personalised” ads are shite and completely not personalised.

Online ads....
I think the problem is that in the age of "AI" and "machine learning" etc etc - the reality is that targeted or personalised advertising is absolutely shite.
All I see when I browse around are ads for things that I bought. It's like - I FUCKING BOUGHT THIS WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO SELL IT TO ME??!
I think anyone worried about the machine uprising enslaving humanity can relax and not worry about it, at least until amazon can understand when it has sold you something or you just looked at something.
