    @Heatstreak A degree unfortunately does not guarantee coding skills. If I look around at my university I doubt most of them will even know how to install Eclipse...

    @Heatstreak, I started out in Hardware QA but I have a CpE degree. Over the years, I picked up little things here and there and eventually joined the development side.
    I still have a knack for testing but being in QA was the best training for "good habits" I could ask for.

    A good QA should have a coding background so that they can understand how the software works and build automation if situation permits.
