Fucking nvidia and its fucking proprietary linux drivers. Of course I had to attempt an update, because the game was freezing, and of course it ruined my Friday evening. Because the newest kernel apparently cannot even boot (with any version of the proprietary drivers).

This would have happened 3 times today if you were running Windows Home.

If you were running Windows Pro this could have been prevented. Something something Durex...

Idk what card you're using but if it's a very new one you might want to look at nvk.

I think as unstable as it currently is, the mesa - vulkan - nouveau route will be the path of progress in the future.

Nvidia is a money making company. I think it's totally their rights whether they want to release their driver to linux or not.

@lorentz it's an RTX 30xx series. I'll have a read about this nvk. It sounds promising. Sadly, the standard nouveau driver didn't really give me the needed performance.
I'll also have another go at solving the bug. It already happened once, but I could solve it then with some grub setting changes. Thankfully I can boot with the previous kernel, and if nothing helps, I can revert with timeshift and just simply ignore the newest kernel.

@daniel-wu the thing is that they release it, so technically they support it, but it's buggy. Anyways, I've learned my lesson, I will probably not touch Nvidia hardware for a while.

@daniel-wu but it's also the right of their customer to curse them for selling a broken product.
