One other thing I hate about the popularity of async comm in corps.
After reading so much async comm. I have no energy to read for fun on the weekend o.o

I love async text communication cause if it works you ask a question and get a good answer in one sentence instead of having a meeting listening to the entire process it took for someone to finish what they did before, and browser through their stuff to look up what they need to find the answer.

But sometimes it's a mess of back and forth clarifications with yours between each message - when it could've been resolved in a 25 second live conversation.

We have a rule saying if it's been a few hours and more than 4 back and forth messages and something is unclear: it's time for a call.

Yeah I just can't get used to it. To me I find that I suffer from all the issues with waterfall.

ie. Same words but interpreted differently. A lot of reading so some things get missed (the nots, especially). Really have to think hard to make convey what I want to convey. Sometimes even if I did I don't feel confident and have to provide clarifying statement myself.

I just can't see us changing from a society that hates reading to all of a sudden excelling at async communication. It doesn't make sense to me
