PHP, despite all the crap it gets, is solid. It's widely used, and there's always a ton of PHP jobs available. Laravel is also a solid choice. It's getting bigger by the day, and it's actively developed. As for the other techs, pick the ones that interest you. There are always going to be the die hard fans and the nay sayers; follow your interests.
-
watzon46248yDefinitely follow your interests, however if you're looking for somewhere to go from PHP I would suggest Ruby. it is another language with a big job space and it's really fun to code in
-
My advice would be to not cover your bases to thinly by not spending enough time on one language.
Take your time to become fluent in a language before moving to another and you will be a stronger developer for it.
I see a lot if developers trying on the tactic of "i know 27 languages" but they only really now the basics in each. -
Suiyans1018y@mathieujonson , thank you for the solid advice. This place is better than other community. Because they keep on arguing each other.
-
Suiyans1018y@dev0urer , Ive been reading about ruby and php in quora. And I think its a good choice. I'm thinking about mastering a language that only few knows. It could make me somewhat endangered developer hehehe.
-
Suiyans1018y@nblackburn , what a solid advice. Thanks very much. But one thing that arguing in my mind is that, the community itself. They keep on arguing both sides which create a massive nuisance between languages.
-
@Suiyans Ignore it, most of the comments about PHP bring bad is down to developers allowing themselves to write bad code.
No language is perfect, JavaScript is a mess (ES5) and JS devs admit it but Node devs don't. -
Suiyans1018y@nblackburn , your right. They keep on ranting PHP where as almost of the web maybe later was made from PHP , its somewhat that PHP has the legacy to be respect from all web devs. And I'm sure that there will be a better future for PHP. Since it receives massive of bad comments.
What about ES6 ? I heard about it. And many says it has a lot of improvements. -
Suiyans1018y@dev0urer , haha.. When I was college, we taught about C and its all about cmd. All basics... get the sum, product and other math. I don,'t blame our instructor about that , maybe she forgot to share with us what is the basic usage of the language, sample applications , about making something awesome. I only thought that time, C was only building some program that runs in terminal that do the basic math. haha. And somewhat in life I've heard about using C building OS, Kernels ,Compilers and many backbone softwares.. And It made me WOW! hahahahaha.

Could someone advice me to pursue a programming language? I'm currently working with PHP using laravel Framework. And I 'm thinking about javascript like node js, electron and etc since it enable developers to create cross flatform app from web , to mobile and also to desktop. I'm just a little bit dizzy about these things right now.
