So that you tap the ad by accident.
I've forgotten that some people don't have adblock on their phones. -
Most sites dont do it themselves, all it takes is 1 AdSense JS and it spams the ads in the DOM async
blame google :p -
sariel85342y@electrineer AdBlock, pihole, badger, etc....
I'm disappointed more people don't use any of these tools. -
@sariel I’m personally against adblockers. What I dislike on the above is the abuse on advertising.

"I wonder why most websites decorate their pages with ads making it difficult to read the main content" - it's simple.
the harder the content is to read, the longer users are staring at their screen.
the more overladen the page is with ads, the more users are staring at ads.
both are just, in the true spirit of cappitalism, ways to maximise ad profit.
most of us are actually not human, but ferengi, as it seems. -
Inigo3762yBut the problem is when you open the site through Facebook or something and it opens it in the inbuilt browser; no ad block
-
@Inigo wow, a rare Facebook user! Really?
I personally wouldn't use adblock that only works in a browser, it's better to have one that works for all apps system-wide. -
The thing to ask is why they arent rotating the ads (Which would be even more annoying) cause last I checked most ads pay if they are viewed for 1-2. seconds and you don't get more for showing them for 10 seconds.
So really would expect more sticky ad slots don't swap the ads often
