DEVil6669172yIf the hackathon isn’t a corporate one it isn’t necessarily self-exploitation but I still hate the format because there isn’t much actual hacking and in the end wins who pulls out of his ass most buzzword during the final pitch.

@DEVil666 Not even that
Win the ones that lick the jury asshole how they like it
Tech, robustness, exploration, originality, scaling mean nothing -
@DEVil666 Have my increment and go! you have no business making me sneeze-laugh my drink like that!

qwwerty11432y@Drunkzee If that's the case then the hackathon is poorly designed and organized.
Example: we had jury split in technical and soft skill/non technical. Non-tech jury was the public one judging the final presentations. Technical was secret and consisted of hw/sw mentors which were present for the whole event - guided team progress, technology used, did repo code reviews, evaluated tech stack, etc.. and the final ranking was based on scores from both jury teams.
And yes, we had cases where highly praised bullshit bingo was taken down by negative votes from tech jury.
Hackathons? No thanks, I don't participate in self exploitation tournaments.
