Worst day of my life.

Got a job at an awesome company in another country but joining is in November.

Bunch of us got screwed over by the current company because of "downsizing" (out of the blue, they wanna start over with 4-5 devs like 2 years back) and they don't want to keep front-end developer as anybody can do it... (yeah I remember how the site was before I came... using ! important everywhere is not the solution).

Started looking for jobs (because I need to pay rent) so that I can spend 3 months there and then quit. Facing moral dilemma, as I don't want to do that to the company who hires me now.

Contracting? At least you can be somewhat honest / feel less guilty about not telling them

You never know what will happen come November. I would hedge my bets, companies change their minds all the time. Person I know was asked to move from US to EU for his company, got visas, rented out house, spouse quit their job. Last minute they changed their mind. They ASKED him! He did apply for the EU position they talked him into it.

The company which hires you in November, maybe ask them if the position can be filled right now as well?
I would be happy to employ an frontend-guy as fast as possible.

@plusgut I'd join today if given an option but I have to stay 4 months in my home country due to some unavoidable circumstances.

@shivindera ah okay, I understand. I wish you the best of luck to get this jobsituation resolved for these months.

There's a trial period. You try, and then refuse to continue. I know, it sucks, but remember, it's YOUR life. Don't give it up for people you didn't even meet. You don't owe nothing to nobody. And the new company can easily screw you up without even blinking, so don't worry about leaving according to contractual terms.
