If it's getting slow during its use it probably a sign it's getting warm. Have you looked at fan based stand for it. Even just putting a small object at the back under the laptop to allow airflow helps. When it's warm it throttles and when it throttles it takes longer to perform it's tasks but the user will still likely be pushing it as hard so it just sinks in on its self.
Also make sure in your power setting assuming Winblows that you have cooling set to active and not passive.
How much RAM have you got? Could look to add more.
Have you ever cleaned it inside? (F*ck warranties) you could reseat and thermal the CPU also most laptops have peasant based thermal compounds.
