The never ending struggle between my need to do things the right way and the way client wants them

Client is always right ;-)

The trick is to say what is right, but making it seem like that’s what the client is saying. Give credit to them, but do it the way you need it to be

Until they start saying stuff like “let’s do this very simple workflow, but with blockchain!”
