I hate how so many people seeing a resume with 15 years or more of work history ask about a few months at the fucking tail end or during recessions
-
@horus
AFAIK libreoffice can deal with word files save for some obscure features you probably aren't using.
So can Google docs. -
@horus
I mean, if layout is important, maybe it's sensible to make a web CV?
That probably will sort out potential layout problems, and is easily printable for antediluvian employers. -
@CoreFusionX .... Well personally I don't feel format should be so rigid but uh
Everyone expects something that should be a list of criteria in a central system anyway -
@AvatarOfKaine
No. When *you* apply somewhere, you take care of trying to fit in.
Accommodating to their preferred formats is a way of doing that.
My comment was a way to help this in a manner that is least bothersome to OP. -
@CoreFusionX yes.. but also there some room for interpretation supposedly. Point Is resumes are moot. And a web resume is worse unless you're approaching a rare creative who wants to see you demonstrate what you know.
A resume format that is sensible is not always appreciated and to be honest the career matching sites should be centralized and people simply placed.
This bs where s person may not have s job they can survive off of after firing off tons of resumes snd applications is bull -
Jedidja10142y@horus there are some .doc(x) to latex (or md, ...) converters, even comandeline ones maybe those would help. E.g. pandoc
Also have you tried exporting to .odt in Word?
Personally I want to try using .md for everything some day (there are even some blog posts about akademic papers in md) but I haven't yet had to write something in a while
I hate updating my resume.
