While exploring matterverse.ai, I looked at the formula for rubber:

C5H8.

its bandgap is 5.803

After a few minutes I discovered a slight modification:
C2H4, with a bandgap of 6.85!

"Holyshit, why aren't linemen using this instead of rubber for electrical insulation?"

*looks up formula*.

C2H4, the formula for:
Ethylene.

It's ethylene, a highly flammable gas.

And now you know why I don't do chemistry.

    @NeatNerdPrime I am not walter white.

    I repeat. Not. walter.

    Wheres the ralph wigum meme when you need him?

    "hehe. I am the danger."

    @Wisecrack Actually, pure Crystal Meth is actually white. The blue tint comes from minuscule impurities. Just sayin, _not_ Walter White...

    @Oktokolo JESSE!

    My favorite psychos were always the ones that repeat people's names too often.

    Something off kilter about that particular verbal tick thats just so damn satisfying.

    @Wisecrack Wait, isn't Ethylene just the repeated molecule in the rubber polymer? I think they forgot to mark it with brackets like so: [...]n
    Anyway, I love your 140+ IQ posts here 😎

    Edit: Polyethylene https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...

    @PonySlaystation before or after polymerization?

    Before, its a flammable gas.

    After, it's a plastic.

    Only went back and looked because you asked.

    So rubber with certain microplastic inclusions would raise electrical insulation esp for linemen?

    Or am I misunderstanding?
