QCat8367y@k0pernikus this is so theoric I wanna cry π
With current economic conditions, if you didn't make some portfolio working for free, you will never reach a client since they all want security about what you can do.
(in my country at least) -
QCat8367y@abhi-dev @k0pernikus as it was implied, if doing work for free was not profitable for you it may be for someone else. Didn't mean YOU should do it
-
@QCat Work remote or go abroad then? As a developer, even an inexperienced one, there is no excuse to not get some pay. I also know the pain of applying for a job as a junior. Yet someone worth working for will pay you at least your rent and the food on your table.
-
QCat8367y@k0pernikus For very personal reasons I can't go abroad, and I postulated to about 340 employment offers for remote jobs and the double for local jobs, I was never recontacted and when I asked why, I did not have enough product or website that weren't either made out of an internship or requested by a known company.

Don't do it still for free. Understood you need somethingβ to show but still charge something. Even $20 but never do it for free. If you need something to show and make your skills more sharp go to any website awards site and pick simple one and try to do that. Best of luck :-) @QCat

adinortey147y@QCat listen, there are tons of free website templates, customize and put them up as portfolio.
-
QCat8367y@Thewebdev @adinortey The problem is not filling a portfolio, it is that they want to evaluate if your customers where satisfied. So for that you need a customer or at least a commanditaire.
When a friend asks to create a website for his startup for free. FML π I got bills to pay. Will he provide his service for free??
