Just a noobie. Should instead say, I use Arch Linux and I must be cool. Ain't it right Mr. @linuxxx
-
"I use Linux because it's open so it's my system, I can customize it to infinity and it works great for me"
-
@linuxxx I can't first begin to learn all the quirks, understand and to get in. It's tiresome. Like in my case, if you'd tell me when I first started out that I'd had to type some vi .bashrc to change setting. I'd freak out. I started out Linux mint just because it was cool and made me feel like a hacker when I typed ls and cd to navigate.
πIt was a joke π -
drRoss49147y"I use Linux because I enjoy spending hours customising my operating system only to change flavour a week later."
-
@drRoss Tbh I used to do that. But I think I'm pretty stuck in my fedora/kali setup for now π

@drRoss
How does it feel having only one computer? I'm assuming you only have one because if you have multiple you can just endlessly install different distros as a "trial" on one and then just roll it out to the other machines when you find one that works really well -
drRoss49147y@RiderExMachina W10 at work, macOS at home. But they're two very different use cases.
-
zshulu3757yI don't think running a Linux system is a claim of being cool. Who doesn't like customization/ricing? It's just that some systems allow it more than others. Only a matter of transparency and personal taste.

Does it pain you to be a < 3 computer scrub? You're not a real programmer unless you have 1x Windows PC, 1x Mac, 1x BSD PC, and endless Linux PCs.
Best of all worlds, tbh fam. -
drRoss49147y@RiderExMachina For what it's worth, I have a pfSense router (freeBSD), multiple Windows Server installations and Ubuntu Server installations.
But I don't count them as desktops for obvious reasons, nor do I feel the need to talk about them NOR am I a programmer. Lastly, don't call me fam, you're not from London. -
@drRoss I genuinely didn't expect you to rub Ubuntu servers! What's your opinion on Ubuntu vs Cent Is servers if I may ask? (no trolling, really wondering)
-
drRoss49147y@linuxxx It makes financial sense to run Linux sometimes. Plus, with PowerShell on Linux, that helps. Which, by the way, if you haven't used, you should definitely try. I find it much more intuitive than Bash.
I don't really have an opinion on either, apart from the fact that I think if you work with RedHat in your job, you should stick with CentOS.
I use Ubuntu for Linux servers because... Well why not? Updated regularly, alot of support resource available on the internet, etc. -
@drRoss Fair enough! Wasn't judging you at all, just wondering :). I use ubuntu, debian and centos for a lot of servers myself but I'm always open for new ideas
-
@Dav13 I actually run kali on my pc and fedora on my laptop :). What advice would you like?
-
@drRoss Very late, fuck my memory but anyways, what license does Nano Server have?
