yup.

used to kill my disk. and suck up my cpu. both. and i had no idea what it was doing and why. just that killing it suddenly made my pc work again.

Sometimes the anti-malware is the malware itself, running on malware.

if it keeps killing your cpu and restarting itself when you kill it from taskmgr check if it's not juat a disguised bitcoing miner.

i had one which disguised itself as .NET optimization service but made the mistake of storing the mining logs next to the fake exe.

while learning about it, they mentioned it infects other system services too, such as the antimalware one.
