Jumpshot441099210yMy policy is if an employee is issued a company laptop they must take it home unless they have a tested backup device at home. In suburban areas it is easier as people commute by car. In urban areas sometimes more of a challenge. By the way, I commute by train plus 1.5 mile walk each way to the office and always take my laptop home.
Do you guys take yours home? What if you need it in an emergency? -
morhir14410yIt would be nice to get a work laptop, my options were a 1 year old i3 desktop PC that takes 2 millennium to start up or use my own Mac. -
Jumpshot441099210yIt would be more productive for your company to buy you a laptop. I hope they do in the future. -
rowseyej27010ywe have an "on call" rotation. we are not required to take them home but I generally do to be able to help out if something breaks....unless I'm on call, then I definitely take it. -
morhir14410yI get one advantage! I send them the bills for software licences 😀 and if I ever leave they are in my name 😉

if I take my laptop home...shit will break.
if I don't...shit still breaks and I don't have a way to fix it.
