Haha, this wallpaper is so distracting. I changed it since my first day with my OP3
-
veledar1278y4 different messenger, apps, in can only handle messenger, Hangouts, Facebook messenger, and steam chat.... oh.
-
@zshulu Yeah tbh I don't trust threema as well. I don't trust crypto apps that are not open source haha
-
@zshulu Not. Homegrown algorithm which has proven to contain vulnerabilities and since they store all metadata... That's just a no go for a good privacy app
-
zshulu3758y@linuxxx can you link me to those vulnerabilities? I think most of those are out of context, but please feel free to enlighten me; I don't think their end-to-end "secret chats" haven't shown vulnerabilities besides the fact they're homegrown.
@Verstrahlter I usually use Telegram's secret chats because their mechanisms have been long since displayed to public criticism (which hasn't exposed any working attack, afaik). In my opinion, transparency is a more crucial cornerstone to security than following standards. -
@zshulu One example: https://infosecurity-magazine.com/n...
But next to that the metadata story is highly important! -
zshulu3758y@linuxxx lol how can you not store your messages in plaintext on your own device?
I'll look into the metadata thing a little later -
@zshulu Thats the only thing I could find so quickly 😅. The metadata thing is important though ye
-
zshulu3758y@linuxxx I agree that online presence history leaks some privacy, but I guess there must always be tradeoffs between usability and security. Maximizing security concerns in an app would make it rather inconvenient to use.
-
@zshulu hmm don't agree on the tradeoff. Look at tox (tox.chat is the domain I think) for example, easy to use and works like a charm while keeping a to the Max privacy and security standard. And also signal, only metadata it ever retains is your signup and last registration date (epoch) rounded to the day! But hey, opinions vary :)
And I didn't find my emails for days...
