    Sounds like a winner :)

    Not afraid to ask for help but also capable to solve thing on his own.

    And thats why I ignore "need help" messages for 1 hour before answering.

    Literally every time I write my senior colleagues about an issue after trying around for 1-3 hours (or days).
    5.74seconds after clicking send I finally have a working solution.

    @Katakompe So you get the solution when you allow the brain some seconds of unconcious maintenance... Then just do that before writing your colleagues next time. Browse cat content for some minutes or so and see if it helps.

    @Oktokolo I already started to do similar. My go-to trick is to take a shower.
    However sometimes even then it's only after I sent the message that I get the idea.
    Maybe it's because I reformulated the problem and got new ideas.
    I will try just typing but not sending the message next time.

    Slight difference from

    The more in person scenario

    Senior: *stares pointedly for 20 seconds at junior like he's the dumbest creature that ever slithered from the oceans edge * are you sure ?

    me everyday (the junior)

    @magicMirror sometimes the senior could help you fix it in less time because they already know the product better. it's more about time management for me, not actually that I'm incapable of reaching the solution eventually

    @darksideofyay
    Depends on the junior. Some juniors need the help, others need a bit of stress. Some need a foot up thier ass, while others just need to be encourged a bit.

    A senior should guide you, not solve all your small problems.

    @Katakompe that's likely because by writing it down trying to get your message across you understand the issue in a more simple way, thus getting to the point that a solution is at your reach.

    @no-oxygen agreed, I worked tech support for a while and cannot count the number of times I just sat there listening to them explain the problem just to end up with, oh I solved it, without me even having time to respond ;)

    And I am fine with that, that means they learned more and will need less help.

    And its the reason for rubber duck debugging :P

    AAAA I feel this... ;_;

    I search for an issue for 2 hours. 2 HOURS.
    I really don't want to annoy my fellow Devs. After 2 hrs I give up and ask for help.

    After the message is read but before the other Devs answers, I find the bug.
    And then I feel dumb and hope my colleague doesn't think I am an idiot ;_;

    (happened to me 2 weeks ago)

    @Eredom I am not sure but I think that formulating the question for someone else really helps the brain to understand it.

    And once you ask or send it you relax and suddenly the subconscious get more free reigns and ideas you for some reason blocked out comes popping in.

    Sometimes I end up solving my problem by writing out the issue to my senior.
