@C0D4 lol you fell for the youtube sponsor ads? :D

Nord is so overpriced... so expensive for just a VPN!

You can search Slashdot Deals for some lifetime subscriptions.

I went with SlickVPN - $20 one time payment, seems to work fine.

@Nihil75 nope, I already use protonmail.

The vpn I was using before had dns leakage on windows and changing my network settings every time was a pain in the ass to deal with it.

Proton doesn't have this issue with the desktop client which was surprising.

I've been using Mullvad VPN for a while now and I think it's pretty good. Flat fee of 5 EUR/month with no price tiers or bulk discounts or anything. It doesn't even ask for your email when you sign up. You just get an account number.

Depends on your need. I've been using ProtonVPN for a while now and it seems good. Thinking of giving IVPN a try. Both are on the same page on privacy matters I think and Proton has servers in more locations than IVPN.

I've used Nord VPN for a while now, after switching from PIA. Nord VPN might be pricey, but I need VPN to fake my presence in a particular country and the cheap / free ones aren't fast enough.

If you talk to support and mention you want to stop your subscription you might get a good offer to stay.

At least that's what they did for me. I love nord except for it's pricing

Depends on your needs. I only need a VPN if I‘m in a network I don’t trust. So a VPN to my own router at home is my first choice. It‘s free forever without limits and no logging.

Privacy.. As in connecting your laptop to your pc through a vpn? Or browsing internet through an alternative ip? Or perhaps you have a different understanding of 'privacy'?

If you only need an ip swapping, why not just get some cheapo vps or any other server w/ ssh access and use a socks proxy through it? There are lots of free options too
