for one, the name is different, and they are used for different purposes, under differnt scenarios. unless they need something more specific, and then i go deep into the JVM, and the js engine specifications.

Javascript was developed to support java in the browser. After a while javascript became a standard in modern browsers. And javas primary domain is now on the server side and minecraft.

Javascript is actually ECMAscript.by the time they made javascript, JAVA is the buzz word. They just ride the bandwagon. They think by that many devs will gonna use it.
