🔵 Last month I finally bought myself 144 Hz IPS

I hated the slight ghosting on VA; however I gotta say that VA did have one major advantage over both of my old and new IPS:

On a sunny day, the VA panel reflected literally NO light, so it was always readable. But both IPS's suffer from ambient light; the only way to work comfortable with them was to close curtains during the daytime ☀️

VA is superior in all aspects - except latency.

I only play at 60 Hz though. And often it is just 30 FPS because i don't want to pay the miner fee on a new GPU.

My 2160p VA panel feels way more immersive in games. My old IPS had sort of a gray fog present in dark scenes and colors wheren't as brilliant.

Best would probably be a display having a single LED per subpixel - OLED (which still has its problems and is expensive) or non-organic nano-LEDs (which aren't available yet).

27" 144 Hz 1440p IPS is a sweet spot, should be affordable.

@Oktokolo I’m sorry how is VA superior in all aspects except latency. Don’t IPS displays have wider colour space and viewing angles while VAs generally have lower latency compared to IPS.

@-AJ- VA tends to have more contrast. IPS panels have IPS glow. Then again, VA panels have black crush. For a gamer it may look better.

I am not an artist and never used a calibrated monitor. So maybe the colors are off.

But for me colors just look more brilliant and the black is way blacker (in comparison to my former IPS panels). The latter is a game changer for stealth, exploration - and actually Netflix too.

I didn't notice any black crush or VA glow yet. But there is a slight gamma shift to the bottom of the screen when i serach for it with test images. I am also pretty satisfied with the viewing angle while sitting only 40 cm away from the 32" screen.

Being able to just normally use it with the sun literally shining at it from behind at noon in winter is nice too (it has no HDR, but i guess, 3k:1 at 300cd max brightness still is more than enough as the highest brightness setting used so far was only 40 of 100 - at night i game at 10).

That wonder display by the way is an ordinary Samsung UJ590. It is marketed as a gaming monitor (but luckily isn't curved) and costs around 330 USD at amazon.
