Wine, mono, wine-stage if that doesn't work for simple unveristy programs windows vm will handle it fine as long; as your not running some gpu heavy program. A well rounder user in wine will not need windows. There are also open sourced version of almost any program on the market. (I don't understand the hatred of any os. use what comfortable for you and what you need to do with that machine. This passive aggressiveness bickering among fellow devs is unnecessary)
