Guys I am having a question for a long time....
Say you want to work while traveling. How do you handle monitors? I ideally want two big (not the small ones) monitors while working, however it's impossible to bring two monitors, one is heavy enough...
If one day some company invents some very very thin and foldable monitors I'll be very very happy.

Something like this, if I had too.

@C0D4 is it a bit too small for a front end dev...? 🙈 But I shouldn't complain too much xD

@junjie a bit, but portability vs practicality don't always go hand in hand.

2x 12 inch screens that you can fold away vs 2x 24 inch screens you need to strap to your back and find somewhere to power them 🤷‍♂️

    @C0D4 right 🙈 I'll take what I can get. Thank youuu :D

A small projector would be good if they weren't crap.

if you're actively travelling you'll probably be better off getting used to a laptop monitor.

I know it's not what you want, but all the pros-cons vote in favour of a laptop w/o ext monitors.

I was fully nomadic for about 2 years, on average spending between 1 to 3 months per country. My advice would be to forget about it and learn to work with what you have, the reduced weight and easier logistics more than make up for the inconvenience in my experience. But I also primarily do backend and/or non-web work.

I'd go for a computer that comes with a screen - there's a recent invention, I think they call it "laptop".

Maybe get a laptop with a 4k monitor and use 100% scaling. That way you can fit a lot of stuff on the monitor even if it's small.

In Germany, you can rent hardware so you don't have to carry your monitor around. Still haven't tried though. When I'm working in a library, café, or coworking space I mostly use the laptop monitor and use zoom and device emulation for website testing.

Travelling with hardwares that aren't meant to be travelled with can cause damage in transit. I will suggest to rent/leese whatever you need.

@fraktalisman thank you! I'm in Germany and I didn't know that. Just googled some websites letting you rent monitors. Cool!

Maybe you could rent them from local work spaces, gamer stores or cafes?

Oh yeah, something that could work is virtual desktops - Windows finally caught up and while it's not perfect (still can't see two full screen at the same time) it still makes organising your workspace much easier.

In Windows you can swipe up with 4 fingers to see your virtual desktops overview, and swipe left and right between desktops.

You can use Ctrl+Win+D to create a new virtual desktop, Ctrl+Win+F4 to close the current one, and Ctrl+Win+left/right to switch between them instead of 4-finger-swiping.
