Why do people go on lunch break while we are in the middle of hotfixing on a production site?....

    Because it's noon?

@Fast-Nop No, no. That’s not it. It’s because they’re hungry.

    Because they don't own it...

If you’re hungry enough to not be able to think straight anymore, that might actually be a very good idea…

… but I doubt that’s the case. People aren’t usually that insightful.

Mental and physical health is more important than any hotfix for any employer.

    Probably they don’t give a f**k

And in the grand scheme of things they are probably right

    Hypoglycemic?

If I go long enough without food I start shaking like I am freezing to death. Can hardly move when this happens.

Because they might think if they don’t look after their health and wellbeing they might need to hot-fix themselves.

However I would be tempted to carry on, considering my past experiences you can’t hot-fix yourself when you need a hot-fix and no one would care to hot-fix you.

I am trying to learn what those people are doing, building boundaries to protect my health and stop that urge.

    Because they prioritise what matters.

some people cheer when the system breaks because it means they can stop working...

You don't want my bugfix running on production that was written while I was hangry.

Unless we are talking business-sinking incidents, it's completely fine for a hotfix wait for another hour so people can have their lunch.

funny how even devs forget that devs are people too. i mean, people have a right to eat lunch? what's the point of making software if people are miserable in the process? your colleague has their priorities in order

Because lunch is not paid hours
