My company thinks "DevOps Engineer" means

(Senior AWS Solutions Architect) + (Lead DevOps Engineer) + (CISO) + (Helpdesk) + (Sys Admin) + (Team Lead) + (Database Adminstrator)

My mistake was taking on all those duties without demanding 7x the pay.

Boy I’d love to work on a project with that many roles

I bet between all the red tape and delays you’d never finish a project ! Perpetual employment !

    Saves time. I guess.

I find that this only happens in startups, correct me if I'm wrong, and it has it's pros and cons.

It exposes you to different things which is definitely a plus for your career. On the other hand, you are not adequately rewarded for the skills your bring to the party which is a shame.

Maybe it's dev+ops but the plus sign didn't render

@AjDevNull also curious about the dev count in that company 😊

Then again, I'm software engineer, software developer, data architect engineer and scientist, data analyst, dev ops engineer, cloud engineer, infrastructure engineer, network engineer, helpdesk and the goto guy for any technical questions out there. And I'm training some new lads.

Time to leave the company as my salary is shite and my lead doesn't see my potential (even though I picked up a zillion extra tasks)

Well, due to the tiny size of our team that’s pretty much the job description of a ”Developer”, excluding HelpDesk.

@AjDevNull and yeah, doesn’t happen in startups only. Living the life, most definitely not in a startup tho

The team is about 50 people, we’ve grown quickly , but we never grew out of some of our startup thoughts.
