I started working on college projects alone

@ishankothari teachers call it 'group project' and don't let us work alone:/

I threw my group under the bus once. We had three weeks to do a project and I was not able to reach them outside of class. I just did the project myself. With three days left, they start communicating. Everything needs to be planned and is now urgent. I ignored them, then gave my completed project to the professor along with all the emails and screenshots of my unanswered calls. I still got marked down for completing it alone since group dynamics was supposed to be part of the "learning experience."

@njpugh90 your lucky enough to have 3 people work :P in my group of 4, 1 codes, 1 does report and the other two won't even know about the project.

@hacker101 luckily I was the option of working on projects alone at college, maybe you can try requesting them?

This is called "preparing you for Scrum Agile."

If you have the right teammates group projects can be good.

@Jumpshot44 got a great team for personal projects. academic projects require to have students from the same class:/ and at times chosen at random which makes it worse

I had a class last quarter where we all had the option to do a group project, and everyone except for 2 people opted to do it by themselves.

@hacker101 lol I'm pretty sure they were not. Both guys seemed pretty straight.

Most of the value of working on a group project comes from... the fact that it's a group project.

It's about learning to work with others, while you learn a topic at the same time. That's pretty much what any real-world job requires of you.

There are always going to be people that don't pull their weight, or that take credit for work they didn't do... Doing this in school is a big preparation for your career, no matter what field you are studying.

@error13 I completely agree to that, I do have groups for personal projects which are amazing.
For academics its just that everyone is running behind marks. nobody really cares of working together to build something good, hence I end up doing everything myself to make something good within my capabilities.
you wouldn't believe it, for DBMS we had to design a complex enough database for a mini project, as usual none in the group did anything I went ahead and did a full stack in php and lost marks for having done too much.

@hacker101 I went to school too, you know... And I stand by what I said before.
You're going to work with plenty of people who don't care at all about building something good. It's no different from school. They just care about paychecks, holidays, or promotions instead of marks.

Unfortunately we don't always get to pick who we want in our team. That's life.

At my company, I do 90% of the work and get 2% of the profit.

    Teamwork.

We did peer reviews where the prof would let you give your other team members marks. Your final mark would be adjusted by the outcome of that peer review. Worked pretty decent.

@error13 I actually thinking about it now. well seems like I need to get myself used to this soon😀

I did all the work too, but luckily it didn't go unnoticed and got 86%.
