I think the OS looks good in tablets. Apps are the ones that don't look fine. Tablets have now too small a market share to justify the extra time to create specific layouts. So no one does it anymore.

@Eariel Yeah it's the apps, not OS, that look bad on tablets. I'm designing an app for a tablet right now and there's absolutely no guidance on how to create an app that looks great on a tablet.
