As long as you are willing to suf- uh I mean work.

Well I am 51 and recently (two years ago) switched to a new company.

And I still get 2-5 personal requests for meetings with recruiters.

There is, at least in Europe, a big demand, especially for experienced devs.

Twenty years ago, no one wanted to hire 40+.
But now everyone is happy if they get anyone who at least pretends to be able to code.

Job offers didn't change. They are still just lists of buzzwords to ignore completely.

And if you are a greybeard with some ancient skill (like Cobol), banks and other "conservative" companies will happily employ you till you die of old age no matter how old you will get...

Over 50, just started a new job a few months ago, get loads of messages from recruiters.

I didn't put nearly enough into a pension for years, and like @unicornpoo I've a massive mortgage, so I'll be working forever.

Keep your skills current and you'll be OK, at least in Europe, and probably the US.

Competent, humble developers are welcome at any age.
