Maybe I'm an oldschool guy but I'd prefer a scale like critical/fatal, error, warning, info/notice, and optionally some trace/debug level.

For an IDE/editor... Fatal would be if there was some problem with the IDE itself, error for nonsense syntax, warning for risky code and other code inspection stuff, notice for style & code quality tips.

But if we're doing weak warnings, there should also be a final warning.
