Jr. Dev: We got an issue in prod.
Sr. dev: Okay, what is the issue?
Jr. dev: Don't know, just got an email.
Sr. dev: Did you check the service?
Jr. dev: Which service?
Sr. dev: What have you debugged so far?
Jr. dev: I explained you the issue and waiting for your inputs.

😑😑😑😑😑

So you sent them away to gather information until they can tell you in a real full sentence what the exact problem is, right?

@Maer, not exactly. I just want them to do atleast first round of debug which includes atleast check the service where the error occurred.

Wow. I can get that input from an intern or entry level. But a Jr.? Might as well teach them some debugging tools.

I believe that's the kind of atitude that people get used with in the universities and such, where there is always a teacher or senior who knows everything

For the self-learners its just the opposite, they don't have anyone to explain shit to them so they develop critical thinking for problem solving

Of course, the guys on the internet that ask on every cool video or post about programming "hey, sir, please teach me, sir. I want to learn but i dont get it, sir" make me realize that those are only crude generalizations and there are plenty of exceptions on both sides

@KennyTheBard Absolutely, everyone wants to go for a simple route but do not want to face challenges.

Even though they have come across similar situation multiple times, still they want someone else should fix it.
