The 5 step process to my average day:

1. Client doesn't want to pay for an admin dashboard that can be tested

2. Client wants to us to make ad hoc changes to the data in the production database

3. Client wants things done quickly without testing

4. Client complains when things go wrong

5. Me: (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

And then technically a 6th step where I end up spending my own time building admin dashboards just for myself, which it'd be super handy to give to the client, but they won't pay for it (and can't even give it to them for free because then they expect other things for free too 🙄)

Which is why you should never accept to do things without testing. If they want their data to be modifiable, they should pay for it to be modifiable. If they want to modify data that wasn't established to be modifiable, they should expect it to be done in 3 business days and an appropriate bill and delay in the normal release cycle.
