Isn't windows 11 too demanding, it also lags in 8gb RAM VM. Finding it difficult to changeover to it in future

    Microsoft

    1. Buys mojang and minecraft, a game heavily built on java. Java is the foundation of android, and android created by google

    2. Microsoft pivots to base their core browser on a *chromium*, a supposed serious competitor.

    3. Microsoft is now saying it's "new" operating system will support android out of the box.

I'm thinking some sort of partnership is in the works. Probably not a merger but these are weird days, and it seems very left field for microsoft to take a competitor and start building its business around it, like that's a *strategic* threats to your business...unless you have some sort of partnership in mind for later on.

@Wisecrack That's a very reasonable possibility. Paradoxically, together they're large enough to resist any accusations of monopoly or product bundling.

@homo-lorens thanks I hadn't considered the other end of it, what googles role would be.

Googles facing some major monopoly regulations/pushback. They spent a decent amount of political influence over the last few years.

A partnership with Microsoft would at least help shield them from any sort of public or institutional change of attitude.

Also wouldn't be unreasonable to see this as an attempt to build alliances for them and shield them from the moves being made by other competitors.

Microsoft understands landgrab and predatory investing. Maybe they're just considering being the small fish this time.
