Slight rant.

Guys which fucken anti-virus do you recommend for free, which doesn't throw around with ads like crazy?😡

I know this might kinda start a war and some of you want me to use linux.
Sadly, win10 is a must.πŸ˜›

Girlfriend managed to catch some encryption fuck-up..
I made her use sophos home before, but it seems like sophos isn't self-acting enough..

I hope you have some ideas..

    Tell her to visit fewer dodgy porn sites.

    @alwaysmpe Hehe, might do so as well. I have absolutely no clue where she got that shit from.. its the laptop she uses for uni stuff only.

    @ScribeOfGoD using it on my laptop too, just for the easyness of it, don't even really need it..
    Is it actually good enough?

    @daintycode yep, never use anything else

    K, thx a lot dude.❀

    Avast or BitDefender. Both are good, and no ads that I'm aware of.

    Just As @ScribeOfGoD Said Microsoft Security Essentials / Windows Defender Is More Than Enough , Never Used Anything Else.

    Running sketchy programs in a VM

    I'm using Avast for years now, and never had any problems. You just have to manually turn off pop-ups in the settings so you don't get all the annoying messages

    Think about setting up a sandboxed browser and tell her to only use the standard one for downloads. This way plugin exploits and stuff get a lot harder to pull of.

    Kaspersky, Avast or BitDefender. Good detection rate, maybe also install a firewall like Comodo.

    Malwarebytes..., anyone?

    MSE using it for years now.
    #Microsoft o_O

    Not for free but i use eset nod 32 for me and all my customers because you can install the era server so you can see any virus affection of any client on one single dashboard

    Avast or Panda Antivirus

    Avast is my current go-to (light if you do the basic install and good detection rates AFAIK). Bitdefender is decent too.

    Avira is okay, but you get a few annoying popups with the free version these days.

    No antivirus best antivirus

    Thank you all very much.(:

    @Gatgeagent, I'm running Kaspersky on my main machine too, I just love it. Best AV ever made. But something free would be better..

    @nikola1402, you think Avast perfoms good on lower middle-end devices?

    @helloworld, hell nah. I didn't made a single good experience w/ that software..:/

    @CozyPlanes, Problem w/ all the fancy extra stuff is that this machine is not very good, specwise. It has 2GB RAM only and runs @ 2x2.something GHz..

    @daintycode
    Search Google for bitdefender keys, you'll find a lot of premium 1/2 year keys, activate it with then and when they expire do the same thing. I've done this for 3 years until I finally switched to Linux and stopped caring about anti-virus

    Windows defender is what I use. But I avoid any weird sites.

    @daintycode probably 'cos Im all Mac and it works great, not tested or used their windows version.

    @daintycode i would say so, all my devices were mid-range at best and i have been using it for almost 10 years. Basic installation package is free and lightweight so you shouldn't have any problems
