Anyone here made a change from a QA background to a Mobile Dev or just regular dev? Any tips for a QA looking to ditch the field soon.

I’m an automation QA bit still feeling like the coding challenges are not enough.

    First job: QA

Did it for 13 months before getting an opportunity to apply for a dev job.

Did a phone interview, then a technical test, then a technical interview and finally a technical + non-technical interview.

No professional experience in dev, yet got a dev job that required 2+ years of professional experience.

Because I never stopped learning and building things. And it reflected in my interview.

My advice would be to keep learning tech and building projects actively. And keep applying. It’s easier to switch in your early years than to do it later. So try to grab one at the earliest. A reasonable one, though.

    All the best!

@Cyanide thanks! This helps a lot since I was thinking of ditching my idea to get a postgrad in mobile dev. I think it’s worth the shot.
