yo-yo13638y@dfox Oh really? Hahaha, I thought you did. The other day I remembered that when I made an SMS app for android a few months ago I was able to just go into developer settings and 'force split screen' on all apps without having to do any extra work for my app. It's not perfect but so far I haven't had any complaints. Anyway, when I enabled that option the other day, I didn't notice any changes. And I onlybreboot my phone every few days. So maybe the force split screen setting needs a system reboot before it works. :D

athlon173228y@dfox I Lineage OS (basically CyanogenMod 14) based on Android 7, you can force apps to run in split screen mode even if they don't support it. It's a little bit buggy (I'd broke Instagram app and I had to reinstall it), but it does work.
