PM asks for an estimate on a bug fix, I say 2 hours, he puts down 4 hours, I finish it in 10 mins. Today was a good day :)

That makes a pleasant change to saying it'll take 2 days and the project manager says they've already told the client it'll be 2 hours.

In my project it is like: task should take 4 days, project manager says to client it would take 8 days so they pay for more hours, and then gives you 1 or 2 days to finish it

Yeah, this is not how it usually goes, that's why I said it was a good day :)

Never give estimates on bug fixes. Just don't do it.

I get 2 hours instead of 2 days and it should have been in production by yesterday 😂I just need to get myself a time machine :)

@oscylo I never want to, but unfortunately it is not an option

@Bikonja If You cannot change this policy then give huge estimates and maybe just maybe they will realize that estimating bugs is stupid.

@oscylo they are usually not bad, they realise that the estimate for a bug fix does not make too much sense and they don't say anything if a fix takes much more than it was estimated so I'm ok at the moment. As can be seen from the fact that the estimate was double what I said.

@Bikonja This is not ideal but One can live with that.
