How can you avoid becoming a knowledge silo if everyone you train and upskill ends up leaving for another job? 😩 So frustrated that over the last 5 years I have tried my best to ensure the whole team is skilled in my specialist area so, that they can manage it on their own.... Yet... here I am... a silo again.

    Gotta try to do what you can to document at that point.

    It's by no means a solution for experience, but there ya go.

    @GIS-Jedi

    Nothing you can do.

    As long as you are not a grumpy hermit not telling anyone anything, it's the task of management to keep people.

    If they don't do it, not your beer.

    I understand the suffering though.

    My favorite sentence before leaving for vacancy is: before you fuck it up, wait till I'm back or message me if it's urgent.

    Don't change anything if you have the tiniest doubt.

    Worked so far, but it's really meeeeeeh

    @IntrusionCM I like your thinking with that quote lol! Sadly the problem is that I am leaving my post and handing over to someone with very little experience and one other person with some experience, but not as much as is needed. So I am trying my best to document everything and demo every problem that arises so they won't be completely lost when I go. You are right in saying it is managements problem though lol
