I've had meetings that seem ominous ... and they turned out to be positive news...
It's sometimes hard to tell in some workplaces. -
@N00bPancakes Yeah my workplace has a bad culture so I'm not expecting anything good.
-
@hjk101 A company where they have to fire certain amount of people every year. Average time for almost 90 percent employee is 5 years. They remove and hire new.
-
hjk10157314yWtf never heard of a firing quota before. I guess they are efficient in making sure none is irreplaceable.
Big bucks are spend on acquisition. Everywhere they try to get the most out of it. -
@hjk101 no, the company is like we will hire these many people each yera and fire these many. Generally people leave in 2 years or so. You will find only 10 percent of people who have worked here for 10 years.
-
@hjk101 Most crowd is young. 50 percent of the managers are young adults. VPs have some adults.
-
Sheesh must they really put this on you after all the shit youve been through? If they wanted to fire you they should’ve gotten it over with today instead of giving you the weekend to be in suspense about a weird meeting with the manager. Even if it’s a positive thing, you’ll still be thinking about it all weekend unless you have a crystal ball (which I doubt you do).
-
@TeachMeCode I don't have a crystal ball. But I'm going to switch soon anyway. ;)
-
Update: It was a feedback on my delivery. I was not able to give right timelines.
-
@true-dev001
Well that doesn't seem so bad.
Nobody gives right timelines, and if they do they're not working on difficult enough tasks ;) -
@N00bPancakes yeah this is quite on the point. working on smaller tasks I. am always able to give the right timelines but when things are a lot or complicated I lag.
-
@SidzZy Yeah actually. I appreciated that my manager had a point for me and wanted to discuss it. He also answered my questions about giving timelines. And you know I needed to extend the timeline for. something and as he asked me to. do I did the same thing, I broke down the problem and planned one by one. I know this but sometimes I am scared as stating a lot of days sometimes agitates the discussion.

I think I'm getting fired. My manager is pushing to have a meeting. Although we also have 1:1s but he is asking for it this time. Never did this before.
My company have a firing culture. I'm not very positive about everything. My performance was satisfactory last year, but I couldn't do much this year.
