I really think 1 hr+ meetings are a fucking waste of time. By minute 40, people's attentions waver.

If I ever run my own shop I will fucking ban meetings that last more than 30 minutes, and have a hard cap of 7 people per meeting and require a fucking agenda. God damn it. Being stuck in meetings where 90% of crap not relevant to me is bs.

30 min is the optimal meeting time. Anything longer, and people quickly stop paying attention. Shorter, and there isn't enough time to get through the agenda

Meetings in general are a waste of time and money. If I ever own a company I'll only allow meetings if back and forth communication is needed, anything else goes through email. I'll also only require the people that are actually needed in the conversation to attend the meeting, everyone else reads a summary email written after the meeting has ended and stuff has been decided.

I don't get why companies allow so many useless meetings, it's such a waste of money. Instead of one person taking an hour to write a comprehensive e-mail and 9 people taking 5mins to read it, totaling 1h 45min of collective work, people take 1h meetings with everyone involved, totaling 10h of collective work.

30 mins are ideal. Any longer and my nap risks turning into a full snooze. Any shorter and I don’t feel rested.

I had an all-day meeting last week. Seven hours, with an hour break for lunch. My brain basically turned off around the two-hour mark and my entire afternoon is just a blank spot in my memory. They could have fired me in the meeting and I wouldn't have noticed.

2 hour long meetings rarely if ever require my constant attention, so I just listen in the background as if it was an audiobook or something.

It's been said that no matter how long a meeting is - people will find a way to fill up the time.

If a meeting is an hour it doesn't seem that bad to spend 5 minutes on introductions and 5 minutes on a recap.

If you just have 15 minutes people will get to the meat of the task right away and there's no need for a recap.
