Root772315yBeen there.
(Edit: snap company and moving jobs, not countries.)
Boss was an abusive asshole; I left. His company folded. It felt nice — and still does. 😊 -
C0D4644175yWe all have that one employer that shoved us in a corner and tries to drown you.
Its something of karma when said company goes out of business not long after their sole developer walks away. -
C0D4644175y@johnmelodyme some people like people, some people like sheep... this guy likes an ostrich 🤷♂️
Don't judge the guy. -
@ostream
Seriously the best IT exit strategy i ever heard of. Ostriches are like huge and dangerous chicken, but also produce the famous full-family breakfast eggs... So totally worth it!
And i doubt that they make a lot of work - apart from keeping the fence in pristine condition, which would obviously be top priority because that beasts are fast and furious. -
ars138155y@johnmelodyme Some developing country. Not the worst or anything and I like a lot of things about it, but I'm really not feeling like moving back. Plus I really like this place, and the idea of going through programming interviews yet again to keep my visa makes me shudder.
@Root Hah, I bet it does! I do like this company and the people in it though, it just got fucked hard by covid. I'm trying to keep it alive even though it's not really something I should be doing, but it's still stressful to put up with this kinda pressure.
@ostream Yeah leaving IT often crosses my mind. Ostriches are.kinda stinky though, a neighbor had like 15 of those and it fucking smelled. Then again maybe he was just a dirty asshole and didn't properly take care of them.

It changed my life, really. 😁

Turns out the small company I'm working for is depending almost completely on the new SaaS system I'm building, to appease investors and not go belly up.
I just wanted to move to another country and code some stuff, this is too much pressure.
