    @Jop- I haven't tried maya yet. To me it seems like you can start easier with maya, so it's beginner-friendly. The learning curve in blender is indeed steep, but once you're in you can be more efficient. But as I mentioned above: I haven't tried maya yet.

    @sirjofri what's the best practice for making models like guns like tried making planes so like starting from 2D trace the image and then extrude it to 3D or should I use 3D shapes from the start?

    @MightyNerd training and reference. It's best when you see a reference photo and see the topology in your mind. You can learn modelling just by doing it. Also watch tutorials of skilled people, not 12yr olds openong blender the second time...

    @sirjofri Ok so you're saying don't put the image directly on blender just have one on the side?

    @MightyNerd no, i said: use references. Look at different guns until you know what gun you wanna create. Then you can load relevant reference photos in blender, or not. This depends on your workflow and your imagination.

    Think of it like sculpting. Start with a cube and start splitting faces and extruding to add shape and detail.
