Maybe if language X is a requirement and they don't want people without experience, not applying unless you have experience in X would be an idea?

They4644yYeah I have Y experience but they wanted X language which is basically the same as Y.
For instance this company wanted Alpine Js and I have experience of VueJS. Learnt Alpine, did the test and explained problems with Alpine and the test given to me when I was making it maintainable and scalable to demonstrate my skillset and knowledge. Their solution was to not make it maintainable and instead just copy and paste code from one file given to me and paste it in the index file...
This is for a Junior role but I'm so used to trying to show case my skills that I never experienced a company wanting this methodology instead. -
notThere734yIt seems to me that companies are mostly not embracing change, and therefore shy away from fancy new things (e.g. scalability). Also it is not greatly appreciated to do more than is asked for, especially if it costs extra time.

To all companies hiring can you stop expecting developers to know your language and actually acknowledge that the developer learnt the language then conducted the test for you? It also shows how quickly they can learn whilst developing the test.
I am honestly fed up of applying to jobs when companies do these sort of things. Been told to do this test in X language, so I have to research into this then get rejected at later stages.
